Situation in Menasinahadya normal, bodies brought for postmortem

Mangalore, July 11 (UNI) The situation in Menasinahadya and surrounding villages, where an irate mob torched a government jeep protesting against alleged killing of innocent people not connected with the naxalites in the encounter yesterday, was remained peaceful and under total control today.

Inspector General of Police (Western Range) A M Prasad, who is camping in Chikmagalore, told UNI over phone that the situation is under control without any fresh incident. He also denied the report of any lathicharge today in his jurisdiction over the incidence.

"There is no problem either at the site or anywhere else in the district," he added.

He said that there were some road blocks put up by the irate villages who had dug the roads to block all the exit routes to prevent the police and official vehicles from moving from the encountered site. However, the entire road blocks have been cleared in the night yesterday, he added.

He said that all the five bodies killed in the encounter yesterday have been brought to the District Government Hospital, Chikmagalore under heavy police protection for post mortem.

Following the encounter, the irate villagers who had gathered prevented the police movement protesting against the killing of a house owner, his wife and Paramesh, General Secretary of Rastriya Udyana Virodhi Okkoota, shouted slogans against police action and also burnt a government jeep of Assistant Commissioner and trenched all exit routes to prevent the movement of vehicles from the site.

When the police prevented the people from approaching the incident spot, the irate villagers demanded that they should be allowed to view the bodies of their villagers and ultimately forced the police to go near the spot.
