Rs 1,700 daily wages in employment scheme!

Raipur, July 11 (UNI) Can anyone earn wages of about Rs 1,700 per day under the Sam Vikas Yojana, an employment-oriented scheme? Congress MLA Mohammad Akbar, who raised the issue during the Question Hour in the Chhattisgarh Assembly today, said, ''A person earned roughly Rs 13 lakh as wages under the scheme in Kawardha district.'' Quoting the muster roll, he said the person ''worked'' in two shifts daily from 0600 hrs to 1400 hrs and 1500 hrs to 2300 hrs, apparently availing hour-long lunch breaks.

Pointing out that the roll indicated the person earned up to Rs 1,700 per day, Mr Akbar alleged that it was a case of fake payments as the recipient was a political party's local worker.

Panchayats Minister Ajay Chandrakar said the government was ready to look into the matter if the legislator provided him details.
