Renewable Energy ministry sanctions projects for NE
Shillong, July 11 (UNI) The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has sanctioned the setting up of 66 district level and six state level energy parks in the North Eastern states.
Official sources here today said about 23 stations using Wind Power Programmes were being operated in six NE states since 2004.
Further measures for wind power development in the region would be taken up, they said.
1,246 family type biogas plants have been set up in the region during 2006-07 till January 31, 2007.
The National Biogas and Manure Management Programme (NBMMP) is being implemented in NE Region through State Departments. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) also implemented the programme in Arunachal Pradesh, Asom, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.
During 2006-07, 11,500 solar home lighting systems, 500 street lighting systems and 8000 solar lanterns and 35 solar pumps were allocated under the Solar Photovoltaic Programmes (SPV) to the region by the Ministry.
