Rajkot, July 11 (UNI) Followers of a particular sect here have submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner in connection with the complaint lodged against their head by a woman.

The woman, Ripal alias Riya, has accused the religious head, Vrajesh Bavashri, of making an ''indecent proposal'' to her. The followers, in their memorandum, urged the police chief for a fair probe saying certain ''elements'' had instigated the woman to defame the sect. The followers demanded a thorough inquiry to expose these elements.

In her complaint, Riya had alleged that Bavashri had made an indecent proposal to her during her visit to the Haveli (Temple).

She had added her husband Vimal Lodhiya and in-laws had compelled her to go to the religious head.

Meanwhile, Bavashri has denied the allegation, saying he had met Riya three months ago when she, accompanied by another woman, had approached him and requested him to solve the dispute that existed between her and her husband and in-laws.

''I had tried to resolve the issue, but Vimal's father was against accepting Riya,'' Bavashri said. He did not understand why she was blaming him as she was like his daughter,'' he added.
