Rains show signs of relenting
Gandhinagar, July 11 (UNI) Rains, that have caused floods in different parts of Gujarat, have shown some signs of relenting but the state admistration has sounded a red alert in Saurashtra and central Gujarat following the overflowing of the reservoirs.
As per reports received by the Emergency Response Centre of the state government, there was a moderate rainfall in 76 talukas in the past 24 hours in which 10 talukas recieved five to 10 inches of rainfall and 66 talukas recieved one to four inches of rainfall.
Eight districts of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kutch, Porbander, Rajkot and Surendranagar remained dry.
As many as 21 talukas in the state recieved over two inches of rainfall, while 29 talukas received over an inch of rainfall.
The water level of Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada increased at 121.92 mt and was overflowing at 2 mt. The water level on Kadana Dam on Mahi river was at 124.77 mt, sources said.
Many other dams in the state too were overflowing including Madhuban Dam, Ukai Dam, Ajawa, Kadana, Panam, Vanakbori, Dharoi, and Dantiwada.
