Punjab to plug loopholes in evasion of road, entry taxes
Chandigarh, Jul 11 (UNI) In order to keep a strict check on tax evasion, the Punjab Government is considering on adopting Gujarat pattern to plug loopholes in the collection of road and entry taxes in the state.
Punjab Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal said that a study was being carried out on the tax collection system in Gujarat to stop tax evasion at the barriers in Punjab.
The Minister, who was on a visit to Gujarat alongwith senior officers of the department, was impressed with arrangements devised by the Gujarat Transport Department for effective and transparent collection of road tax and entry tax.
He said that tax collection in Punjab could rise upto Rs 200 crore if the Gujarat system was adopted by the Punjab Government.
