One killed as jeep runs into a truck

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 11 (UNI) One person was today killed while four others were injured in a mishap when a jeep ran into a truck near Sadhugarh village of Sirhind.

According to sources, the jeep, carrying the body of a head constable Gulzar Singh posted at Uttar Pradesh who had died of heart attack, to his native village of Mukerian Kalan near Pathankot, ran into a truck from the rear side this afternoon after the driver of the jeep lost control of the vehicle.

The deceased was identified as Arshad, a resident of Mukerian Kalan village near Pathankot, while the injured were identified as driver Mohammad Sakoor of Shajahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Subedar Karam Singh and his wife Rajinder Kaur of Jalandhar and Diwan Singh of Makrana.

Police have registered a case against Mohammad Sakoor for negligent driving.
