No substance in statement of tie-up between Jet-AI: Patel
Mumbai, July 11 (UNI) Even as Jet airways chairman and managing director Naresh Goyal has expressed his willingness to form an alliance with the state-owned Air-India to enhance the market share for Indian carriers, AI has not showed any enthusiasm for the proposal.
''There is no substance in these talks of an alliance between Air India and Jet airways,'' said Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel.
''No such things have so far worked out and you ask them who had stated this?'' he queroed.
When contacted, Jet officials said Mr Goyal had shown his willingness to have a cooperation with Air India and he had made the statement at Seattle recently.
According to market sources, Jet is trying to refurbish its image in the international market as it has got a few destinations abroad and is now trying to have a deal with giant Air India to gain a foothold in the international market.
