Munda accuses UPA of violating MCC in prez poll

Ranchi, July 11 (UNI) Former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda today crticised Left-UPA Presidential candidate Pratibha Patil's campaign here saying the Central and state government ministers used government vehicles for the job, violating the model code of conduct.

Mr Munda said the BJP would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission in this regard urging it to take quick action against the culprits.

Addressing a press conference here, the former chief minister said the manner in which the UPA campaigned for the party candidate looked as if they were fighting in civic polls.

The Union and state government ministers used government vehicles for the purpose. According to the code, if the ministers came for campaign, they must come in personal capacity.

He refuted Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's claim that his party (RJD) was never against women empowerment, saying what the Railway Minister was doing when only yesterday the DIG (RPF) allegedly tried to molest a women in a train.
