Maoists remanded in custody till July 25

Periyakulam, Tamil Nadu, July 11 (UNI) A local court here today remanded the two Maoists, arrested by special task force for indulging in fire-arms training at the Murugamalai forests, in custody till July 25.

The two maoists, Karthi and Easwaran, were produced before Magistrate Singaraj by the 'Q' Branch police.

The Magistrate, however, posted for tomorrow, the hearing of the petition submitted by the police seeking custody of Karthi till July 21 to facilitate the investigation, which was yet to be completed.

According to police, Karthi was a close associate of top maoist functionary Sundaramurthy and Easwaran, an active participant in maoist programmes.
