JAC to go on strike on July 17, against delivery deaths
Imphal, July 11 (UNI) The JAC here today announced a series of stir to protest against the increasing mortality rate of women during delivery.
The JAC have alleged that the negligence of doctors was the reason of such deaths, hence their termination was demanded.
The JAC had already started a sit-in-protest at Bishenpur demanding stern action against the doctors. The protest would continue till July 15 and a general strike would start from midnight of July 16 to 17.
United Women's Front, Kongkham Awang Leikai, Youth Development committee, Nambol, along with several other organisation have also supported the strike.
Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur branch, had expressed concern over the issue and believed that the general public and the doctor fraternity need to understand each other's views through proper discussion and interaction.
The IMA had also kept suggestion boxes at various hospitals.
