Infy Q1 net profit up by 34.5 pc; turnover 25.1 pc

Bangalore, July 11: Infosys today announced a 34.5 per cent increase in itsnet profit for quarter one of 2008 fiscal at Rs.1079 crore, with theturnover up by 25.1 per cent at Rs.3773 crore.

Announcing the results, Company CEO and Managing director SGopalakrishnan said, ''As clients recognise the strategic imperative ofglobal sourcing in an increasingly flat business world the demand forlarge end to end players is increasing. We will continue to focus onbusiness partners of choice to our customers.''

The company forecast an income of Rs.3952 to Rs.3993 crore for thesecond quarter with a growth of 14.5 to 15.7 per cent. For the wholeyear the turnover was expected to be between Rs.16,238 crore toRs.16,436 crore.

The company added 35 new clients during the first quarter withnet addition to employees being 7004. The total manpower strength of Infosys stood at 75,971 at the end of the June quarter.
