Glasgow terror suspect Haneef fears extended detention
Bangalore, July 11 (UNI) Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef being questioned by the Australian police in connection with the failed terrorist attack on the Glasgow International airport feared further detention by the police.
Haneef who spoke to his wife Firdous for the first time this morning after his detention by the Australian Police nine days ago said he was fine and asked the family members not be worry about his health.
A visibly moved Firdous, who gave birth to a baby girl few days ago, told UNI said he spoke for just a minute and was disappointed that she could not speak further. "I could hardly pour out my owes to him and he also spoke so little'' she said adding Haneef said he was fine and asked me not to worry about his health. ''He asked about our newborn daughter and other family members. He fears that the (Australian) police may extend his detention for unlimited period'' she said.
In a related development the police intensively quizzed the family of Kafeel Ahmed and Sabeel Ahmed, detained by the London Police in connection with the attack, for nearly three hours today.
This is the third time the city police questioned mother Zakia Ahmed and sister Saida Kauser. Police have also recovered a personal computer and 320 GB hard disc used by Kafeel during his stay here.
The city police have sent the hard disc to the scientists of Centre of Advanced Computing (CDAC) at Thiruvananthapuram to decode the it.
The police, along with officials of central intelligence agencies, questioned the Ahmeds. "The two women were questioned last night and today. We will question them as long it is necessary," Gopal Hosur, Joint Commissioner of Police said.
