Federation Cup Fencing Tournament to begin from July 29
Patiala, July 11 (UNI) The inaugural Federation Cup Fencing Tournament will be held in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, from July 29 to 31.
Fencing Federation of India (FFI) secretary-general Arun Kumar Vij, told UNI that eight best teams in each of the three events --- Foil, Sabre and Epee --- from the last national Fencing championship, held in Bangalore from January 10 to 13 this year, would take part in the Federation Cup. Besides, eight fencers in each of the three events would also participate in individual events, he added.
Mr Vij said that on the basis of the performance of the players in the Federation Cup, FFI would select the probables for the national coaching camp, likely to be organised at the NIS in Patiala, in preparation of the forthcoming World Fencing Chanpionship to be held in St Petersburg, Russia, from September 24 to 27 this year.
