DDA approves six-lane elevated highway at Badarpur

New Delhi, July 11 (UNI) The Delhi Development Authority today approved several developmental projects including a six lane elevated highway, at Badarpur to ease traffic bottlenecks in the area.

Among other projects approved by the DDA, at its Technical Committee meeting, were a number of development projects relating to construction of RUB on existing railway level crossing at Narela Lampur Road in Narela Sub-city, intersection design of road from proposed Commonwealth Games Village with NH-24 in the Trans Yamuna area, East-west Corridor connecting City Centre (Connaught Place / New Delhi Railway Station) with Anand Vihar in the Trans Yamuna area, the BSZ / Vikas Marg intersection, Tilak Marg / Sikandara road intersection, Vikas Marg / Ring Road intersection near Ring Road and corridor improvement plan of Road No. 56 from intersection with NH-24 [Gazipur crossing] to Anand Vihar Metropolitan Terminal-cum-ISBT.

The six-lane elevated highway at Badarpur on Mathura Road envisages signal free movement in all directions with segregated cycle and pedestrian movement. The project will facilitate the smooth movement of traffic between Delhi and Faridabad (Haryana).

At present, the traffic flow from Delhi is about 60,774 comprising 43,416 cars, buses and trucks and 12095 fast-moving vehicles, besides 5263 slow vehicles and the traffic towards Delhi is of the order of 55601 which comprises 40,546 cars, buses and trucks, 11009 fast- moving vehicles and about 4046 slow vehicles.

The other projects were considered by the Technical Committee and cleared in principle. More details have been called before finally approving the same. These details will be considered in the next meeting.
