Country all set to create history: Pratibha

Jaipur, July 11(UNI) UPA-Left presidential candidate Pratibha Patil today said her nomination was a 'historic moment' as for the first time a woman had got a chance to hold the highest constitutional seat in the country.

She was speaking at the Congress Legislature party meeting held here today and said, ''If I come out victorious in this election I will not consider it my victory but the victory of crores of people in this country''.

Ms Patil while recalling the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters at the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first freedom movement in 1857 said the biggest challenge before the nation was to empower the youth.

Ms Patil said, ''ours is an ancient civilisation but our country is relatively young. She said about 35 per cent of the population falls below the age of 15 and another 35 percent comes in the age group of 15-35. She said the biggest challenge before the nation was to make them self relaint''. Our endovour is to make this largest democracy a modern and developed nation.

While calling for inclusive growth, she said the fruits of development must reach out to all sections of the society. She hoped that with the country moving on a high growth trajectory, poverty, illiteracy and diseases would be a thing of the past in the next few years.
