Jalandhar, July 11 (UNI) Canada's Grand Canadian Academy (GCA) of British Columbia has tied up with the St Soldier Educational Society here to start a High School Programme in India for the first time.

British Columbia's International Programs Manager Keith Gallineli and GCA agent Dave Maljaars, who are on a visit to St Soldier Education Society for finalising the programme details, told media persons that professional Canadian teachers would be coming to teach the Indian students and to prepare them to graduate with a Canadian high school diploma.

This would enable the Indian students a smooth entry to universities in Canada, US, England and other Commonwealth countries, they said.

''Classes are held in English by British Columbia Government certified teachers and students take the examinations as Candadian High School students. All examinations are arranged by BC Ministry of Education,'' they said.

About the admission system, St Soldier Society chairman Anil Chopra said students would be admitted purely on the basis of an entrance test. Each student would be paying 10,000 Canadian dollars as fee per year for a period of three years, he added.

The students would be admitted in the GCA Programme from ninth standard and simultaneously would also be given Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) certificate, said Mr Chopra.

According to Mr Maljaars and Gallineli, the GCA had been running Canadian schools in China for the last five years.

''Three classes have graduated in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 100 per cent of the students have been admitted to universities mostly in Canada but also in China, US and UK,'' they added.
