BSNL strike cripples telecom services in Trichy SSA

Tiruchirapalli, July 11 (UNI) Telecom operations and other services of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) were paralysed in Tiruchirapalli Secondary Switching Area (SSA) today following the nationwide strike by the employees affiliated to various unions.

The employees were demanding issuance of purchase order for the 45.5 million GSM lines, the tenders for which were finalised a year ago.

Functioning of Customer Care centres, Telegraph offices and other telecom operations in Tiruchirapalli SSA, comprising Tiruchirapalli, Karur, Perambalur and Pudukkottai districts came to a grinding halt since this morning following the strike.

The Central Telegraph Office (CTO) and other BSNL offices here wore a deserted look with most of the employees participating in the strike.
