BEST to get around 600 new buses

Mumbai, July 11 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking will get 380 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, 150 mini buses and 50 double decker buses in the current financial year.

Speaking to reporters here today, BEST General Manager Uttam Khobragade said the World Bank had disbursed a loan of Rs 400 crore and the undertaking has bought 600 star buses with it and impressed with the results of the BEST, the World Bank has agreed to give an aditional loan of Rs 100 crore, for the development of the undertaking.

The undertaking will continue to ply double decker buses in the city despite being not that commercially viable, he added.
