AIFFWF demands implementation of Murari Committee report

Visakhapatnam, July 11 (UNI) All India Fishers and Fisheries Workers Federation (AIFFWF) General Secretary K Hemalata today demanded the implementation of the Murari Committee recommendation, immediately.

Addressing a press conference here, she said the Centre ignored the recommendation of the Committee to ban the foreign trawlers in the coasts, while the big trawlers, belonging to national and international owners were exploiting the fish resources here.

AIFFWF President P B Das said the Centre must encourage fishermen by implementing the welfare schemes for them and allocating more funds for fishing sector which was an export oriented industry.
