AIADMK to hold demo at Madurai on July 16

Chennai, July 11 (UNI) The opposition AIADMK will stage a protest demonstration in Madurai on July 16, to condemn the DMK government's decision to appoint back the officials, transferred on the orders of the Election Commission during the June 26 bypolls to the Madurai West Assembly Constituency.

AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa said in a statement today that the agitation, to be organised by the Madurai district unit of the party, would be held at the Mel Maasi road and North Maasi road junction.

Within a few days after the elections were over, the DMK government had passed orders re-appointing police and other officials to the posts earlier held by them before the bypolls.

Describing the government's action as 'anti-democratic,' AIADMK supremo said the agitation was to condemn the decision.
