University staff of Jharkhand goes on strike

Ranchi, July 10 (UNI) More than 4000 staff members of all the three Universities of Jharkhand today went on an indefinite strike in support of their 20-point charter demands.

The agitation called, jointly by the Jharkhand Vishwavidalaya and Mahavidyalay Mahasangh and Rajya Vishwavidyalay and Mahavidyalay Karamchari Mahasangh, affected studies in about 70 colleges in Ranchi, Hazaribagh and Dumka.

JVMM scretary Kanhayia Mishra alleged that the State Government had failed to keep its promise of implementing the Central sixth pay scale, besides increasing dearness allowance and increasing the retirement to 62 years.
