Chennai, July 10 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government is planning to facilitate South Australia-based Universities to set up Australian education system campuses in the state, Higher Education Secretary K Ganesan said today.

Speaking at the launch of an international competition titled 'energising sustainable communities - options for our future', conducted by the Government of South Australia for schools and colleges in India, he said ''after the United States and the United Kingdom, Australia has emerged as a much sought-after destination for students pursuing higher education. However, not all students can afford to go abroad for further studies''.

''Having their campuses here will make their education accessible and affordable to more students'', he added.

A 10-member delegation headed by Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi would visit South Australia in early August to discuss prospects of students, faculty exchange programmes, collaborative research and establishment of the campuses, he added.
