Raid on top Hurriyat leader's residence in Kashmir
Srinagar, July 10 (UNI) Troops raided the residence of a top leader of the moderate Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in Pattan area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir today.
Troops of 2 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) raided the residence of National Front chairman and senior Hurriyat leader Nayeem Ahmed Khan at Khoor Pattan in Baramulla district this morning, his party said.
In a statement here, a National Front spokesman alleged that the soldiers barged into Mr Khan's residence and ransacked it.
Later Mr Khan claimed that the security forces have unleashed a reign of terror in the entire Pattan area from the day Hurriyat leaders addressed a gathering there last month.
''The security personnel are harassing the National Front activists and trying to intimidate them,'' he alleged.
Mr Khan said by resorting to such tactics the security personnel cannot muffle his voice. ''We will continue to strive for our goal till we succeed,'' he added.
