Presidential polls: BJP hopeful of Shekhawat's victory

Indore, July 10 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today claimed that National Democratic Alliance presidential candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat would emerge victorious.

Ms Swaraj, who was here to take part in two-day training camp of the BJP, told reporters here that party strength didn't matter in presidential election.

The BJP leader, who is also the party's spokesperson for presidential election, said it was not be proper to state that the UPA had sufficient majority.

In this was the case, the presidential election would have concluded unopposed.

Replying to a question, she said cross-voting was not relevant in presidential election and issuing whip for this election would constitute violation of rules.

On allegations that the dignity of the President's post had been undermined, she said these allegations had been levelled by media and it has not been taken into cognisance.
