Puducherry, July 10 (UNI) The Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) volunteers led by Legislator Anand today held a demonstration in front of a ration shop, in Bussy constituency.

The agitation was to press the government to provide '10 kg free rice' to all ration card holders, here. The agitators locked up the the ration shop.

The administration, which initially provided 'the free rice' to all ration card holders stopped the supply from April announcing the 'free rice' supply only to BPL families, who hold the red colour ration card, hereafter.

Mr Anand told newspersons that the 'ten kg free rice' was an election promise of the Congress and it was not fair on the part of the government to back track on it, citing non-co-operation on the part of the officials. If any official was not co-operating, action should be taken against him. Stopping the supply of 'free rice' to the card holders could not be tolerated, he added.
