Oppn walkout in assembly over SC issue, poor medical facilities
Lucknow, July 10 (UNI) The opposition Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party today staged a noisy walkout of the state assembly proceedings over the cancellation of Schedule Caste(SC) status to some OBCs and poor medical facilities to counter vector-borne diseases respectively.
During the Zero hour, the SP members led by leader of the opposition Mulayam Singh Yadav walked out of the house on the issue of cancellation of the Government Order (GO) to give SC status to some backward castes in the state.
Mr Yadav said the government was anti-backward and was trying to misuse the mandate given by the people in the assembly polls.
'' When the recommendation is still pending with the Centre and they had not rejected the UP government's plea of the previous government's order, then how could the BSP government repeal the GO'', he said.
However, state Parliamentary Affairs minister Lalji Verma said that giving a SC status to any caste was a Central matter hence the GO issued by the previous state government was illegal.
'' The High Court has also given stricture against the GO'', he added.
The minsiter also claimed that BSP had honoured the most backward caste in UP rather than any other political parties in the state.
In another issue during the question hour, BJP members staged walkout to protest inadequate medical facilities in the state for the vector borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria, Japanese Encephalitis and Chikenguniya.
