Meerut nursing home sealed after rape of minor

Lucknow, July 10 (UNI) Succumbing to public pressure, authorities in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh have decided to seal the nursing home where a minor was allegedly raped by ward boys.

Meerut District Magistrate (DM) Nitesh Kumar Singh has ordered the Chief Medical Officer to cancel the registration of the M Prakash nursing home where the 17-year-old was raped while in ICU.

The action was initiated after the medical team, headed by a woman gynecologist, submitted its report to the administration last evening. The DM has ordered that the nursing home will remain sealed till investigations were over. The three-member committee has said in its report that nursing home owner Dr Ravi Prakash did not cooperate with the investigators.

Medical examination of the girl has already confirmed rape.

Police have already arrested Ashok, Devendra and Depti Singh for raping the girl. The three accused have been sent on a 14-day judicial remand.
