Long-term power plan for Gurgaon

Chandigarh, July 10 (UNI) A long-term plan has been chalked out to make necessary arrangements of transmission and distribution in view of rapid growth in demand of electricity in Gurgaon and Manesar due to industrialisation and urbanisation during the next 14 years.

The plan was discussed at a high-level meeting convened by Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Power) Ashok Lavasa and attended by senior officers of Haryana Power Utilities, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Town and Country Planning Department and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIDC.) Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited Managing Director P K Das said the Haryana Power Utilities had estimated that the load of the area would be 7654 Mega Volt Amperes (MVA) by the year 2011 for which 124 new substations were required to be set up.

These included three substations of 400 kv level, nine 220 kv level, seven 66 kv level and 105 of 33 kv level. It has been planned to set up three new 400 kv sub-stations at Sector-71-A, Sector-8 Manesar and Daultabad which will be constructed by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, HSIIDC and HVPN respectively.

The HVPN had also planned to upgrade the existing 220 kv sub-station Sector-20, Gurgaon to 400 kv level. There is a proposal to set up another 400 kv sub station at Dananunda (Mahendergarh).

Mr Lavasa directed the Town and Country Planning Department and HUDA to ensure that the corridor for the transmission lines were earmarked in such a way that they did not hamper the departmental work and the transmission network was set up without any inconvenience to the public.
