Lecturer killed, two injured in accidents in HP

Dharamshala, Jul 10 (UNI) One person was killed and three others were injured, one of them seriously, in two separate road accidents in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh last evening, police sources today said.

A lecturer, identified as Vijay Kumar (50), died on the spot after being hit by a speeding scooter near the new bus stand on the Matour-Shimla National Highway last evening.

The sources said the lecturer died on way while being taken to Dr R P Government Medical College and Hospital here. His body was handed over to his relatives after a post mortem examination. A case has been registered against the owner of the scooter involved in the accident.

Meanwhile, over 200 students and teaching staff of the Government Senior Secondary School, Tiara, have demanded that the culprit be arrested.

In another accident in the district, two people were injured, one of them seriously, after their scooter skidded off the road at Kachiari on the Pathankot-Mandi Highway last evening. The seriously injured has been referred to CMC Ludhiana, while another was being treated at a hospital here.
