Law and order situation improved in Tripura: DGP
Agartala, Jul 10 (UNI) Director General of Tripura Police (DGP) K.T. D.Singh reaffirmed that the insurgency related incidents and general law and order situation of the state improved substantially over past six months.
Addressing the press at Agartala Press Club today Mr Singh said altogether 130 hardcore militants belonging to both outlawed All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) surrendered before the security forces so far this year.
He, however, stated that though casualty of both civilians and security forces as well as incidences of arms snatching were reduced significantly, the number of kidnapping in some selected places has increased in past six month compared to first half of last year.
"Extremists are suffering from severe financial crunch while the lower level workers of the outfits are frustrated, as they are not getting the due financial share that leads them to surrender," Mr Singh asserted.
Speaking on the increasing incidences of kidnapping, the DGP said apart from managing funds, the militant leaders have been trying to boost the morale of the ground level workers by kidnapping civilians.
Mr Singh asserted that the state police has already adopted the redeployment strategy of the forces besides, strengthening co-ordinations among the security and other paramilitary forces in the state.
