Gogoi calls for review meeting

Guwahati, July 10 (UNI) Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will hold a review meeting here this evening to assess the law and order situation arising out of latest fiasco of abudcted FCI executive P C Ram and other important state affairs.

Mr Gogoi returned here today after a 13-day trip to the UK and USA to seek investments as well as to attend an Assamese NRI's conclave.

Soon after his return Mr Gogoi summoned ministers and top officials to his residence this evening to review the situation, including the kidnapping episode and border disputes with Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

Mr Gogoi also expressed interest in this of Badaruddin Ajmal, president of the Assam United Democratic Front(AUDF), who was coming closer to Congress despite his strong opposition.

The AUDF executive members were meeting today in Guwahati to take a final decision in regard to supporting Pratibha Patil in the Presidential Election making situation more difficult for the Chief Minister, who bitterly opposed any truck with Mr Ajmal.

However congress chief Sonia Gandhi has met him twice.
