WB: Five arrested for possession of fake currency

Nadia, July 10: At least five people were arrested last evening and fake currency worth Rs 29,500 siezed from their possession near Durlabhghat area under Hogolberia police station.

Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended them when they were on their way to Murshidabad from Durlabhghat via Gopalpur.

Police are investigating into the possibility of ISI links in yesterday's incident and suspecting that attempts were being made to smuggle fake currency into the country.

The five arrested included a husband and wife duo from Senpara under Karimpur police station. The other trio were all from Jalangir Sarkar para of the district.
