Dera follower dies of burn injuries in Safdarjung hospital

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) A Dera Sacha Sauda follower, who sustained 70 per cent burn injuries after attempting self-immolation in Bhatinda, has died doctors said today.

Shyam Sunder, who set himself on fire on July 8 following the announcement that some Dera supporters had disassociated themselves from the sect, passed away at 2015 hrs last night at Safdarjung Hospital, they said.

On July 6, another Dera follower, Jaswinder Singh, who set himself on fire on July 2 in protest against the case filed by the Punjab Police against Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, passed away at the same hospital.

Both hailed from Bhatinda.
