Cocaine worth Rs 70 lakh seized, Afghan held

Mau, July 10 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Uttar Pradesh Police here today busted a Afghanistan based smuggling syndicate with the arrest of one person possessing cocaine worth Rs 70 lakh.

Police Superintendent K P Singh said the cops nabbed a miscreant Tazzan Ahmad on being tipped-off near Maltupur square in Dakshin Tola area.

On being frisked, 700 gm cocaine worth Rs 70 lakh, a pistol and six cell phone sim cards of different states were recovered from his possession.

On interrogation, Ahmad confessed to transporting contrabands from Afghanistan.

He revealed that his gang has a number of agents in several states of the country.

A manhunt has been launched to arrest other gang members.
