CISCO's new products for biz collaboration

Bangalore, July 10: CISCO, the global leader in networking, today announced new products and application that allow organisations to use their network as a platform for more effective and personalised business collaboration.

The product range under 'Unified Communications system 6.0' (UC) was a comprehensive communications system for voice, video and data.

The new release introduce capabilities that would dramatically improve the productivity of mobile employees and cost-effectively deliver UC to small and medium-sized businesses.

''It also extends new collaboration features and third-part application integration across the portfolio. The system integrates wired, wireless and mobile devices to create a secure solution for the entire organisation, regardless of workers' location,'' Manjula Talreja, Senior Director, Voice Technology Group said.

Talking to newspersons here she said UC was first released in the US in March this year and today it had been released in the rest of the world.

''We are also introducing today several advancements designed to maximise business efficiency and improve customer and employee collaboration. The advancement include Cisco UC Manager Business Edition which combines key UC applications for mid-sized business and Smart Business Communication System for small businesses,'' she said.

Cisco UC system 6.0 was built on open industry standards so organisations can mix and match their communications technologies to meet their business needs.

Explaining the advantages of UC systems, she said the Mobile Communicator provides employees with access to their enterprise unified communications capability from mobile phones and smart phones using an intuitive graphical interface. It provides access to enterprise directories, sending secure text messages, viewing business email and voicemail. It worked on diverse handsets, on key mobile operating systems on multiple mobile networks.

UC Communications Manager Business Edition was simple to install and manage and offered flexible deployment options for growth and provides complete package of voice and video communications features.

UC MeetingPlace 6.0 provide an enhanced user experience with increased applications support and a single solution and user environment for simple effective voice, video and Web conferring, she added.
