Car runs over villagers, 6 hurt

Varanasi, July 10 (UNI) At least six people including two minors were hurt after being run over by a car in the Cholapur area here today.

Ravi Kumar (30), Kailash Nath (29), Surendra (32), Ravindra (10) and Priyanka (7) were among the six people hurt after being run over by a speeding car at three separate places in the Cholapur area on the Varanasi-Azamgarh highway, police said.

The occupants of the car fled after abandoning the four-wheeler near Udaypur. All the injured were rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, where condition of two of them was stated to be critical.

Angered by the accident, villagers set afire the car which caused the mishap.
