Arrangements made for Prez poll on July 19

Puducherry, July 10: All arrangements are being made for the Presidential election here on July 19.

According to official sources, about 75 ballot papers were printed at the Government Press on the pattern sent from New Delhi of which 25 were sent to New Delhi and the balance was being kept ready for the use in the election.

The election commission had already appointed M Sivaprakasam, the legislative assembly secretary as the Assistant Returning Officer for the elections. He would be attending a meeting regarding the elections in New Delhi shortly, the sources said, adding that the ballot boxes would be readied shortly. They would be sent to New Delhi after the elections.

The electoral college in the Union Territory consists of 30 members of the legislative assembly and two Parliament Members.

The election would be held in the Committee room of the legislative assembly from 1000 hrs to 1700 hrs on July 19.
