AP Govt introduces voluntary disclosure scheme

Hyderabad, July 10 (UNI) Taking a serious view of irregularities in the implementation of 'Indirama' housing scheme, the Andhra Pradesh Government has introduced a voluntary disclosure scheme for Assistant Engineers.

Talking to newspersons here after a review meeting with Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the prestigious housing programme, Housing Minister B Satyanarayana said stringent action would be taken against those found involved at the government detection.

July 13 would be the deadline for voluntary disclosure of irregularities, the minister said.

So far, 32 personnel were suspended for allegedly committing irregularities, he added.

Noting that 8.91 lakh houses of 20 lakh houses planned under the first phase of the scheme were completed so far, he said 100 engineers would be recruited on contract basis to ensure early completion of the houses from the next month.

The state government had tied up a consortium of five public sector banks for the construction of houses under the scheme, he said.

Designating Andhra Bank as the principal banker, the state government had entered into an agreement with four other banks; Indian Bank, State Bank of India, State Bank of Hyderabad, Syndicate Bank for electronic transfer of funds to beneficiaries at the grassroots level without delay, the minister said.

A call centre was being set up to handle complaints relating to implementation of of the scheme, he informed.
