AP Govt implements Sachar Committee recommendations
Hyderabad, July 10 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Energy and Minorities Welfare Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the State Government was implementing the recommendations of 'Sachar Committee report' to uplift the living standards of poor Muslims.
Participating in a one-day meeting along with the officials of Minority Welfare and Wakf departments here, Mr Shabbir said the government had promulgated an ordinance on July 7, providing for four per cent reservation to poor Muslims in education and government jobs during this year, as per the recommendations of 'Sachar Committee report'.
Stating that the government was also implementing 'Prime Minister's 15-point programme' for the benefit of poor Muslims, he said pre and post-metric hostels for Muslim students were established in every district and fees reimbursement had been introduced from this year. About Rs 10 crore had been allocated for reimbursement of fees to Muslim students on par with the BC students in the state.
Stressing the need for co-ordination between Minority Welfare department and other departments to ensure that Muslim welfare schemes reached to all, Mr Shabbir said the government was contemplating to introduce 'public-private partnership' for developing Wakf properties to generate more revenue in future.
Three Deputy Collectors would be appointed to oversee the implementation of Muslim Welfare Schemes in Telangana, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions at the earliest, the Minister added.
