Anganwadi workers stage dharna for their demands
Tiruchirapalli, July 10 (UNI) About 200 Anganwadi employees and assistants today staged a dharna in front of the District Collectorate to press their demands as part of their nationwide strike.
They were demanding among other things, upgradation of Anganwadi employees, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Employees and Assistants Union(TNAEA) as government employees, pension scheme, weekly holidays for the assistants, salary package of Rs 1063 for anganwadi employees and Rs 500 for assistants, as announced by the Central Government.
The strike had affected the service of noon-meal to children and disbursement of pension to aged people.
