JK: 65 model villages coming up at a cost of 74.40 cr

Srinagar, July 10: Work on 62 model villages has been taken up under Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme in Kashmir division at a cumulative cost of Rs 74.40 crore.

In addition three more model villages have been taken up under state sector, this information was given at a high level meeting presided over by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Jugal Kishore Sharma here today.

Each Model Village will cost Rs 1.20 crore per model.

In the meeting it was informed that upto June last as many as 1958 development works including construction of community centres, recreation centres, children's parks, playing fields, lanes and draines, installation of solar lights and construction of entry gates have been completed at a cumulative expenditure of Rs 26.19 crore.

The Minister instructed concerned officers to keep for public view, the status of all works under execution in the Rural Development Section. The necessary details could be painted on walls or block, tehsil and district offices, he added.
