Gandhinagar, Jul 10 (UNI) Incessant rains in Gujarat have led to a rise in water levels of several rivers and reservoirs in the State.

Tapi river has begun overflowing after water was released from Ukai dam into the river as the catchment area of the dam received large quantities of rain water. The water level in the dam is also increasing due to inflow of water from Maharashtra's Hathnoor dam.

As many as 36 reservoirs in Gujarat including 11 in Central and 25 in Saurashtra regions are overflowing following heavy rains.

About 8901.90 million cubic meter of water has already been collected in the reservoirs in the State as of today. On the same date last year, there was 6054.42 million cubic meter water in the reservoirs, sources said.
