Two bright mysterious lights sighted in Karnal skies

Karnal, July 9 (UNI) Two mysterious bright lights of the size of about half the moon appeared in the sky here keeping hundreds of awe-struck people awake till late last night.

The lights, described as bright and bluish in colour, remained throughout the night, giving rise to speculations regarding their origin.

Initially, people dismissed them as lights of some commercial establishment or circus but later their height and nature made them dismiss this thought.

Dr Dilip Gosain, a scientist with NDRI, said the two round objects emitting wide light were quite high in the sky.

''They were certainly not a laser beam or a night-lantern kite.

It was quite miraculous and needs greater research,'' he said.

Mr Anil Lamba, a corresspondent with a Hindi daily said they appeared to be following each other in a circular movement.

Mughda, a house wife supported Lamba's version that they appeared to be bluish in colour and were moving round each other. Aishwaraya, a sixth standard student and her friends were convinced that they were Unidentified Flying Objects sent by aliens.

Mr Ishwardayal, an octogeneraian said he had never seen such a phenomenon ever in his life.

As the news spread in the morning, the entire town now eagerly awaits for the nightfall, with specially those disappointed ones who missed the sight to sleep, hoping for a reoccurence of the ''miracle lights.'' UNI
