Somasundar elected President of APUWJ

Hyderabad, July 9 (UNI) D Somasundar of West Godavari district was today declared as the President of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ), affiliated to the Indian Journalists Union (IJU), for a two-year term.

Returning Officer B S Ramakrishna said in a statement here that the election process for the post of President and 100 State Council Members had commenced with calling for nominations on June 19 and the last date for filing nominations fixed as July five.

The electoral college for the direct election of the President of the APUWJ consists of over 7,000 valid voters representing all the 25 district units of the union, he said.

Mr Somasundar was declared elected unanimously as the President of APUWJ after the deadline fixed for withdrawl of nominations today,he said.
