Police submits report on 'nexus' in Jessica Lall case
New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) The Delhi Police today submitted to the Delhi High Court a report on the alleged nexus between the ballistic expert and a lawyer associated with the Jessica Lall murder case.
A Division Bench headed by Justices R S Sodhi and H R Malhotra, however, adjourned further hearing on the matter till July 18.
Contents of the report have been kept under wraps.
Justice Sodhi had earlier ordered the Special Investigating Team (SIT) to probe into the allegations levelled in an anonymous, single-page typed letter sent to him, hinting at a history of systematic collusion between the ballistic expert in the Jessica case, Roop Singh, and a lawyer.
The anonymous letter had reportdely referred to two murder cases in the city besides the Jessica case in which the accused walked away scot-free because of the Roop Singh's ''two-weapon theory''.
The letter disclosed similarities among these cases and the Jessica case. Both the cases involved the rich and influential.
The allegation ran that since the cases hinged on the report of the ballistic expert, Singh claimed that there were two weapons of offence and the empty cartridges recovered from the crime scene did not match the weapon held by the accused.
