Vijayawada, July 9: Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central Secretariate Member V Srinivasa Rao today said the party would conduct a nation-wide agitation from August 16 to 31 on the issues like price rise, unemployment and alleged anti-people policies of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Rao said the decision to launch an agitation was taken by the Central committee, which held a meeting for three days in New Delhi from June 24.

Due to the entry of big companies like Reliance and Bajaj into the retail sector, the small traders and farmers were at a loss, he said and urged the UPA government to have control on the companies.

Mr Rao also asked the government to implement reservations in the private sector. As per the Sachar Committee recommendations, the Centre should put into practice 15 per cent of separate funds under the sub-plan for the minorities, he said.
