Kohima, July 9: The Nagaland government has asked its Asom counterpart not to blame it for the July 5 incidents of arson and killing of three people by some unknown miscreants near the Anaki 'C' village along the Nagaland-Asom inter-state border under Mokokchung and Sivsagar districts.

Official sources said in a wireless message to the Sivsagar (Asom) district administration, the Mokokchung (Nagaland) district administration claimed that the attack was perpetrated by 'unknown miscreants' and therefore, the Naga villagers in general should not be blamed.

The Mokokchung administration urged the Sivsagar administration to desist from indulging in a blame-game since such reports incite hatred among the people of Asom and Nagaland.

It further said various media reports emanating from official sources in Asom had heightened tension and caused severe restrictions on free movement of vehicles resulted in shortage of various essential commodities in Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

On its part, the Mokokchung administration promised to take action against anyone found to be involved with the incident.

Pointing out plight of the citizens and patients owing to shortage of essential commodities and medicines in Mokokchung as well as some other districts of Nagaland, the district administration urged the Asom government to ensure that supplies were not hit by the ongoing economic blockade called by several organisations in different parts of Asom.
