Minor crushed to death by tourist vehicle in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 9 (UNI) A minor was crushed to death by a fast moving tourist vehicle in Ganderbal district today, official sources said.

They said a tourist vehicle, on its way here from Kheer Bhawani in Ganderbal, ran over eight-year-old Suhail Ganai of Rampora Ganderbal near Donga Kadal this afternoon.

Ganai was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the sources added.

As soon as the news of the accident spread in the area, residents took to streets and staged a sit-in protest at Beehama Chowk, demanding action against the errant driver. The angry protesters blocked the Srinagar-Leh national highway for some time.

Later senior police officials rushed to the spot and told the protesters that the driver of the vehicle, Roshan Lal, has been arrested and booked under law.
