Karunanidhi pays respect to Chandra Shekhar

New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu today placed a wreath on the mortal remains of former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar on behalf of DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi as a mark of respect to the departed leader.

Mr Baalu, who is leader of the DMK Parlamentary Party, visited the residence of the late former prime minister and consoled the bereaved family members.

He also recorded his condolence message in the register placed at the residence of the deceased Samajwadi Janata Party leader.

Mr Chandra Shekhar died after a prolonged illness yesterday morning at the Apollo Hospital where he was undergoig treatment for cancer for the past three months.
